Claws is about my struggles with anxiety and mental health. Wanting to spend all day in bed and not wanting to leave. thinking about things I regret and not being able to do anything about it. The way my anxiety manifests into negative thoughts and not being able to turn that voice off. Sometimes it gets too much and I completely disassociate and get trapped in my own head - not being able to say a word.
Lyrics
A mattress pulls me further down,
I sink into the sheets and hide away from crowds,
Slip into something comfortable,
And watch the fire burn,
I’m paralysed,
The voice of a pessimist,
Claws it’s way into my skull - turn me inside out,
No regard for the finish,
But still the sun will rise the same if I’m not here tomorrow,
I’m melting like a candle,
From a flame you used to burn,
Stained ash on the wall,
A mouth open in silence.
A word you never hear,
Quiet from my lips,
Decibels are peaking in my head,
Emotions left to linger from you,
Visible but untouched by my skin,
Quiet from my lips no talking,
Decibels are peaking in my head,
Emotions left to linger from you,
Visible but untouched by my skin.
